The sophomore gymnast first tied the school record in the all-around competition with a mark of 38.675 in a victory over New Prague in a Missota Conference dual meet. She then broke it with a mark of 38.95 in the Blizzard Invitational. The previous school mark was established by Tasha Pasch in 1998.

"Bailey has been setting motivational, skill, and score goals for herself and leaves practice each day without regrets about whether or not she pushed herself enough to attain those goals," Northfield coach Melissa Bernhard said.

"Her performances against New Prague, at the Blizzard Invite, and all season long have been consistent. She is an asset to our team in that she is brave in her efforts and resilient in adversity."

DuPay finished third in the all-around competition in the state meet a year ago. She posted a score of 38.200 at that time.

The Class 2A, No. 2 Raiders finished with a team score of 149.025 in the victory over New Prague. It's the highest score posted by a team this season.

Hauger headed to Virginia

The state's most prolific girls' distance runner, Shakopee senior Maria Hauger, gave a verbal commitment to the University of Virginia.

"It was a difficult decision as all the schools I visited were very good," said Hauger, the state's Gatorade girls' cross-country runner the year. "In the end, Virginia just felt the best. It has strong academics and coach [Todd] Morgan is bringing in an awesome freshman distance class."

Hauger selected Virginia over Florida State, Iowa State and Minnesota.

She became the first girl to win four consecutive Class 2A individual state championships. She covered the 4,000-meter course in a record time of 13 minutes, 42 seconds, which was 12 seconds faster than the previous mark.

Top performances

• Junior Michael Gorder has had a breakout season for the Eagan boys' basketball team. The 6-5 guard tied the school's single-game scoring record with a 39-point performance in an 83-72 victory over Lakeville South in South Suburban Conference play. He went 15-for-22 from the field and 6-for-6 from the free-throw line. Gorder, who is averaging 22.7 points per game, tied the mark set by Luke Anderson in 2001.

• Scott West senior Luke Zilverberg was named the outstanding wrestler in the Eastview Invitational tournament. He defeated the No. 3- and No. 8-ranked wrestlers en route to the 138-pound title.
