Wayzata vs. Hill-Murray

7 p.m., Thursday, Jan. 16

At different times this season both No. 8-2A Hill-Murray and No. 10-2A Wayzata have been considered among the hottest teams in the state. Their continual rise and fall, and rise and fall in the state rankings (think: fever chart) speaks to both their potential and inconsistency.

Hill-Murray (9-4-2, 4-1-1) is in one of its down cycles, having lost consecutive games to Benilde-St. Margaret’s (2-0 on Jan. 9) and Mahtomedi (3-2 on Jan. 11).

Pioneers goaltender Remington Keopple has been consistently great all season, posting a .940 save percentage and 1.46 goals against average.

Wayzata’s up-and-down nature can be summarized in its two recent games against Lake Conference foe St. Michael-Albertville; the Trojans claimed a 7-2 victory on Dec. 27 and followed that with a 5-4 loss on Jan. 9.

Jake Schneider’s eight goals tops a Wayzata team that has six players with double-digit points but none with more than 16.
